History of the Bienniale
The European Biennial of Blacksmithing Art in Stia, active since 1976, is the oldest international event dedicated to wrought iron. A point of reference for masters and young blacksmiths from all over the world, it combines tradition, innovation and design, enhancing the art of fabrication and the Casentino territory.

The Forging School, established by the Associazione Biennale d’Arte Fabbrile and the Municipality of Pratovecchio Stia, was created to enhance the art of ironworking through structured and highly professional training.
With courses at various levels taught by masters of the caliber of Roberto Giordani, Roberto Magni and Martino Stenico, the school offers students advanced technical skills, awareness of their abilities and a critical and creative approach.
The goal is to train professionals capable of combining tradition and innovation, responding to the needs of contemporary art.

La Biennale di Stia non è solo un’esposizione: è un crocevia internazionale dove tradizione, creatività e maestria si incontrano davanti al fuoco delle forge. Un evento che celebra l’arte del ferro battuto come patrimonio vivo, in continua evoluzione, capace di unire culture, generazioni e visioni artistiche da tutta Europa.
La XXVI edizione della Biennale Europea d'Arte Fabbrile di Stia si terrà dal 4 al 7 settembre 2025.
Durante la Biennale si svolgono diverse iniziative, tra cui:
Campionato del Mondo di Forgiatura: una competizione internazionale tra maestri fabbri.
Concorso Internazionale di Progettazione e Disegno "Pier Luigi della Bordella": rivolto a designer e progettisti nel campo dell'arte fabbrile.
Concorso Internazionale di Scultura: dedicato a scultori che lavorano il ferro.
Concorso Fotografico "Rossana Molinatti": aperto a fotografi che desiderano catturare l'essenza dell'arte fabbrile.
Spazio espositivo "Lanificio Spazio Vuoto_Incubatore di Idee": dedicato a mostre e installazioni artistiche.

La Biennale si svolge nel centro storico di Stia, un borgo situato nel Casentino, in provincia di Arezzo, Toscana. Stia è raggiungibile in auto percorrendo l'Autostrada A1 uscita Arezzo, seguendo poi le indicazioni per Casentino/Stia. In alternativa, è possibile utilizzare i servizi ferroviari fino alla stazione di Arezzo e proseguire con autobus locali fino a Stia.
Sì, durante la Biennale vengono organizzate attività dedicate a famiglie e bambini, come laboratori di forgiatura per i più piccoli, visite guidate e laboratori creativi presso il Museo dell'Arte della Lana. Queste iniziative offrono l'opportunità di avvicinarsi all'arte del ferro battuto in modo educativo e divertente.
