A wrought-iron chaise longue to be unveiled in Stia: a collaborative artwork for the park
On Sunday 8 November 2026 at 12 noon, the Canto alla Rana riverside park in Pratovecchio Stia will host the unveiling of a wrought-iron chaise longue created by master blacksmiths and students from the S.T.I.A. Academy together with the Iron Notes project partners. The event will take place during the 43rd Castagnata Stiana chestnut festival, organised by the Associazione Turistica Pro Stia APS.
The work grew out of a programme of training and collaboration during the first Iron Notes Summer Camp, held in Stia in September 2025. Through the Erasmus+ project, students and master blacksmiths from across Europe came together at the school to work alongside one another, share techniques and explore traditional and contemporary approaches to forging.
This experience resulted in a collaborative creation for the community, bringing the skills and ideas developed in the workshop into a public space. The chaise longue embodies the value of exchanges between those who preserve the craft and those beginning to discover it, turning a learning experience into a lasting contribution to the local area.
Its installation at Canto alla Rana enriches the new Art Trail, a permanent route inaugurated in September 2026 that brings together around forty sculptures and invites visitors to explore the town as an open-air museum. These works become part of everyday life and the landscape, making the creative heritage that has grown around the Biennale accessible to everyone.
The project was made possible with support from the Regional Council of Tuscany, pursuant to Regional Law No. 10/2025.
